Well it seems well worthy of it's own thread so here goes! This Month: Positive Grid Offer Free Positive Grid BIAS FX LE guitar effects processor, for Focusrite customers throughout November. Exclusively designed in partnership with Focusrite, BIAS FX LE gives you a taste of the fully fledged BIAS FX Pro. It includes 3 amps + 6 effects – the insanely great sounding ‘77 Silvertone (Clean), ‘69 Plexiglas (Crunch), and ‘92 Treadplate (High Gain) amplifiers. You also get the best pedals to expand your arsenal: a Treble Boost, 6 band EQ, a 808 OD stomp box, a Chorus, plus digital delay and reverb pedals.
BIAS FX is designed from the ground up with no-compromise mindset on sound quality. It comes with all the greatest and latest algorithms from our audio signal processing research, it provides significantly detailed and authentic emulation of analog pedals and studio racks, it has dual custom BIAS Amp Match models integration and dual signal chain. You can share and download thousands of pedalboards on the cloud via ToneCloud, Positive Grid’s cloud-based tone community. So after a couple of false starts with seemingly server trouble yesterday I just got it installed.
I just tried the first few presets and was more than impressed enough to make my way over here and evangelise about this freebie:D I have a good few virtual amps and stomps from Avid, NI, Waves, Plugin Alliance so that should put the post in perspective. It was cool a few months ago when they gave the full version of the Eventide Stereo 2016 reverb. Not so impressed with the plugins they have had since.
It is ALWAYS cool, if you ask me. Free stuff is great. While some of the offers are less useful to me than others, I won't criticize them. I just purchased an Antelope Audio interface.
It retails for 20 times as much as the cheap little focusrite interface I bought off ebay. And what do they give me? I look forward to see what kind of stuff Focusrite is giving out at the start of each month.
The fact that it happens as the result of spending $100 on an interface from eBay is bloody marvelous. It certainly beats a kick in the pants. Plugin Collective freebies. Honestly it sounded like an idea that would run out of steam pretty quickly. Getting devs distributed by the Plugin Collective to pony up free plugs monthly is a pie in the sky dream.
Maybe semi-annually but not sustainable on a monthly basis. I am going to hedge my bets and suggest that you'll be eating those words sooner rather than later.:p The Plugin Collective isn't so much about free plugins.
It is just a way of funneling exclusive offers to Focusrite users. Some months have been nothing more than discounts on plugins. It probably depends what Focusrite can negotiate. It might not even be free for them, who knows. I have never actually received an email about a new Plugin Collective offering during the first week of the month. It always seems to come during the second week. In your Focusrite account now.
Studio Session Analyzer is a comprehensive real-time analyser system with the fundamental tools required to improve your mixes and give you total visual control over your sound. In addition to the range of standard analysis options provided, Flux::’s ground breaking innovation, the Flux:: Nebula Spatial Spectrogram, with a unique representation of the audio spectral content and localization in the stereo space, is included. Your DAW connects to the Studio Session Analyzer with a SampleGrabber plug-in, available in all standard plug-in formats, sending the audio to the Analyzer application. Using several plug-in instances from multiple DAWs even on different computers in the same network, you can analyse multiple audio sources in parallel (one at a time) in the Analyzer application. The Studio Session Analyzer is a stand-alone application, available for Mac OS X and Windows, performing the graphic analysis rendering using OpenGL 2.0 and the GPU on the computer’s graphics card to optimize the audio-to-visual experience. Sample rates up to 96kHz, mono/stereo audio input using the SampleGrabber plug-in only (no hardware I/O support), no support for the Pure Analyzer System add-on options. That should keep Stephen happy for the rest of the month.;) T.
Is anyone here having issues to run the Bias Amp Application? The Plug-in works perfectly fine for my but in order to save my presets and upload it I need to run the app. However I gets blocked the hole time after the 'Positive Grid' words disappear. I just bough it so maybe I am not getting something but I keep trying things without a result. It sounds like you have one of the first releases installed, make sure to download the latest version, it works fine except for automation. Also, run the 32 bit version for standalone and 64 for the plugin.
Still deciding here too. I have the Waves CP80 Electric Grand which is plenty enough in that department! I'm liking the Modern Upright. Some nice tones indeed.
One thing for sure, the market is pretty saturated with good options these days for these classic keys. I probably have more than enough choices with the AIR/Avid stuff, Waves, NI/Scarbee and Arturia already. Would be good to see them modelling different stuff rather than all doing the same instruments! Same goes for outboard.

This month's free lunch from Focusrite; zPlane's vielklang LE Harmony engine and also doubles as pitch correction. It wants to be on an Instrument Track and you'll have to manually import the audio you want to work on. Then it works pretty much as expected.
Needs a bit of tweaking to get acceptable results but there are enough tweak-able parameters to work with. In my first attempts I rendered a three part vocal harmony as one stereo interleaved file. For better results and given enough time I think I'd rather render each harmony part separately. Give it a whirl, it's free!:-) T. Give it a whirl, it's free!:-) T I gave it a quick spin. Tried it on a rock track with the lead vocal. The plugin seemed to find the key AOK. No sure about the scale! If certainly needs a little help along the way to find the correct note some of the time as all these things do. It felt like I was working in Waves Tune which isn't a pleasant experience! Either way, all these programs need experience to get quick in the editing and experience to get reasonable results.

These look like some updates to the plugins/apps if you have them already or else grab them if not. Bit dissapointed not updates yet to the Pro Series EQs yet. I reported that the plugin settings were not being recalled back in June of this year.
Still no change:eek: Really, it's 2017 and a plugin should be able to save it settings and recall them in a Pro Tools Session. As it is they still come up with something else:( Here's was their reply back then. 'Mike Lee (Positive Grid) Jul 18, 16:03 CST Hi Stephen, Sorry for the late update, 1.I was informed that we might need more resource/time to fix the issues of Pro Series plugins, I would suggest you to save your plugin settings as presets of the plugin via the plugin UI as a workaround for the time being, 2.I can totally understand if you want to get a refund for Pro Series EQ plugins, Please let me know, Thank you! Kind Regards, Mike Positive Grid Support' As I mentioned before, this is a real shame as there as I am getting some KILLER tones from these EQs, especially from the drive section. Something like the SoundToys Sie EQ but with extra flavours.
Anyhow, will check out the updates. This is how the Session is saved (note the corresponding EQ curve) And this is how it comes back after reopening the Session Note the curve displayed is all different and correspondingly sounds totally different. The parameters look the same but on inspection the narrow peak on the bass has changed to a high shelf, although they are displaying the correct ones.
Come on Positive Grid, get it together!:-) Stephen. Free AudioThing software 08 Feb 2018 And 50% discount We've unveiled a new offer for our Plug-in Collective community from 8 February to 29 March: free AudioThing software Valve Exciter, Valve Filter and SR-88 with a 50% discount off AudioThing’s other plug-ins and sample libraries. Registered Focusrite hardware users can access the free software and discount from their Focusrite accounts. Valve Exciter (normally costs €45) is a Harmonic Enhancer plug-in with vintage valve emulation.
The exciter section features hand-tuned filters with the ability to sweep the centre frequencies via the Harmonics knob. The valve section is modelled after a softer custom version of the vintage Telefunken ECC83 tubes with drive, triode/pentode mode and bias settings. Valve Filter VF-1 (normally costs €25) is a multimode resonant filter plug-in with vintage valve emulation.
The filter section is modelled after a classic ladder filter with low-pass and high-pass modes. The valve section is modelled after the vintage Telefunken ECC83 tubes but with added grit and custom gain control. Valve Filter works great from subtle warbles to full-track filtering effects. SR-88 (normally costs €29) is a sample-based plug-in emulation of the Sound Master Memory Rhythm SR-88, a rare analogue drum machine from the 80s. The instrument features five classic analogue sounds: Kick, Snare, Hi Hat 1, Hi Hat 2, and Cymbal, which can be pitched, panned or mixed independently. You can additionally shape the sound with the Low Pass Filter (Zero Delay Feedback), Overdrive, Compressor and Reverb. The sequencer lets you easily build patterns that can be dragged and dropped to your DAW/host.

THIS MONTH'S PLUG-IN COLLECTIVE OFFER POSITIVE GRID FREE Bias Amp 2 LE with $20 discount upgrade offer to Bias Amp 2 from 6th September to 1st November BIAS Amp 2 LE gives you a taste of the fully fledged BIAS Amp 2 Elite, Positive Grid’s flagship guitar amp designer!
BIAS AMP 2 is the ultimate virtual amp designer, authentically recreating the tone and feel of real tube amplifiers, while allowing you to mix and match components to create your ideal amp. BIAS AMP 2 represents a revolution in virtual amplifier design, providing the tools to take your ultimate guitar tone with you anywhere, from the studio to the stage and back again. PLUG-IN COLLECTIVE OFFER (APPLIED ACOUSTICS SYSTEMS Two free AAS sound packs and $300 discount off AAS Libraries Sound Pack Series Bundle from 8 November to 9 January Choose two titles from the AAS Sound Pack Series, which comprises 35 different titles by 15 different top sound designers and artists. The packs explore many genres and themes for an incredible amount of variety. The sound packs were created with the Ultra Analog VA-2, String Studio VS-2, Chromaphone 2, and Strum GS-2 synths from the AAS Pro Series. They can be played with the included AAS Player plug-in.
Whether it’s for a specific production task or a new type of music you would like to explore, these sound packs represent a rich source of inspiration and a great opportunity to explore the world of physical modelling. I have the free AAS player and a few sound packs(like 3 maybe?). I found it high quality samples for EDM/HipHop type sounds. Though I'm sure there is stuff that can be used differently. I don't do a lot of dance/pop so i never got more packs but I do like the ones I have. LOL Let us know where you found those 'high quality samples' please as their sample packs are not great at all.
Platic sounds and cardboard sounds. Ggod for EDM?? What producers have used these samples and why? I listened thru all the packs and boy oh boy do most suck bigtime:eek: Just listen to the guitar sounds and for EDM?
Let me know as I would love to be proven wrong although I seriously doubt that will happen in this case. The samples are cheap and they sound the same way. Sorry but I am not knocking you or your thoughts, just surprised anyone would say good for EDM and hiphop.
We sell songs and produce for A Lister artists especially in the US and if our productions were made from these sounds we would be homeless by now:eek: I am a bit shocked people complain about getting loopmasters sample packs for free from Avid when those sounds are sooooo much better and Avid gave those away to everyone. These are $39 each and thats $38.99 too much. I won't say no to free Exactly. And what's more, and I loosely paraphrase Jeff Beck here; every instrument, whether real or virtual, no matter how weird or outlandish, has at least one useful sound. I listened to examples of most the sound banks (is that what you call them?) and settled for 'Masala'.
An eclectic set of plucked and bowed ethnic instruments. Koto, Kora, Sitar, Berimbau and more. I found a favorite in the 'Banhu Violin' which, in the lower registers sounds like a cello or double bass playing bowed harmonics. Pretty cool stuff.
